Principal’s message
Welcome to Dr. Robert Thornton!
Welcome students and parents to Dr. Robert Thornton Public School. At Thornton, we have high expectations for all and our aim is to create a learning environment where all feel valued and are comfortable and willing to take risks in order to learn. As a school community, we conduct ourselves in a responsible and respectful manner and continually strive for students to do their best. Parental involvement and support is vital to your child’s success at school and we welcome your input and encourage you to be actively involved in our community.
At Thornton, we teach the Ontario Curriculum expectations, through the use of innovative instructional strategies and comprehensive assessment and evaluation policies. We continuously promote student involvement, student leadership and teach students to make healthy choices through a variety of programs.
The school sports program, arts opportunities and extracurricular clubs are structured to encourage maximum participation by all students. Please encourage your child to be involved in the many activities available to them.
Thornton has an active School Community Council who plan for, and support, a wide variety of activities that benefit students. New members are always welcome!
I look forward to learning and working with you to support our students.
